Issue/Introduction

• Symptom 1 :
  • The error "FailedThe PAK action 'new_validate' script 'source ./pak_python_wrapper.sh validate.py'" can also occur if an incompatible version of Aria Operations is being upgraded.

 

• Symptom 2 :
  • Aria Operations Upgrade Failed from 8.12 to newer version. With Error: FailedThe PAK action "new_validate" script "source ./pak_python_wrapper.sh validate.py" failed

Environment

• Aria Operations 8.12.x and later

Cause

• In the casa.db.script under "INSERT INTO VERSION VALUES" for each line where Cloud Proxy information should be found "--CENSORED--" is in its place.
  • E.g.:
    • INSERT INTO VERSION VALUES
      ---CENSORED---
      ---CENSORED---
      ---CENSORED---
      ---CENSORED---

Resolution

• Symptom 1 :
  
  • The error "FailedThe PAK action 'new_validate' script 'source ./pak_python_wrapper.sh validate.py'" can also occur if an incompatible version of Aria Operations is being upgraded. For instance, attempting to upgrade directly from version 8.12.x to 8.18.x may result in this issue.
  • Upgrade Path or Compatibility between versions must always be verified before initiating an upgrade.

 

• Symptom 2 :
  
  • Log in to the Aria Operations primary node as root via SSH or vSphere console
  • Run the following grep command.
    
    • grep "--CENSORED--" /storage/db/casa/webapp/hsqldb/casa.db.script
  • If the grep command returns results, use the documentation below to replace the Cloud Proxy.
