Issue/Introduction

  • Memory show fully consumed even though resources are available
  • Flex OrgVDC are created with limit greater than actual available at cluster level
  • the following error is shown on the Cloud Director UI when attempting to power on a VM "Internal Server Error - Unable to accommodate request compute. Left Over CPU and memory are XXX and 0"

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6

Cause

This issue can occur if you create a Org VDC with limit greater than actual available at Cluster level which worked fine prior to 10.6 release as Cloud Director will never validate the limit against actual value at vCenter level.

In Cloud Director 10.6, it  is introduced the validation limit against actual resource available at PVDC level.

Resolution

This issue will be fixed in a future release of Cloud Director.

Here the steps to help mitigating this effect::

1: Update the limit of OrgVDC from Cloud Director UI below the capacity of Provider VDC -> Cluster/Resource Pool at vCenter level.  The limit should be reduced by the value XXX shown in the error message.

2: Set the limit to unlimited and it will work fine.
