Issue/Introduction

You are unable to generate VIDM log bundles from Aria Suite Lifecycle or directly from the VIDM config page. When attempting to generate log bundles, you encounter the following error:

Error Code: LCMGENSBVIDM71302 - "Could not resolve view with name 'ajaxResponse' in servlet with name"

Symptoms:

  • Aria Suite Lifecycle: The log bundle generation process fails with the above error.
  • VIDM Config Page:
    • Some nodes exhibit a persistent "preparing log bundle" notification and loading icon.
    • Empty ZIP files are generated, but the loading icon remains active.
  • /opt/vmware/horizon/workspace/logs/configurator.log: The same error message appears in the log file.

Additional Observations:

  • There is no shortage of disk space.
  • The cluster health status is green.

Environment

VMware Identity Manager 3.3.x

Cause

The states.zip file, when present in the /usr/local/horizon/conf/states/ directory, can interfere with the normal log collection process. This interference can prevent logs from being generated

Resolution

  • Take Snapshot: Ensure you have taken backup of the VIDM appliances
  • Identify the affected nodes: Determine which nodes are experiencing issues with log collection.
  • Access the node: Gain access to the affected node through SSH or other appropriate means.
  • Locate the states.zip file: Navigate to the /usr/local/horizon/conf/states/directory on the node.
  • Delete the states.zip file: Remove the states.zip file using the following command:
    rm -rf states.zip
  • Restart the Horizon service: Restart the Horizon service using the following command on the affected node to ensure the changes take effect.
    service horizon-workspace restart

Verification

  • After following the resolution steps, attempt to collect logs from the affected nodes.
  • If the issue is resolved, you should be able to successfully collect logs from Aria Suite Lifecycle as well
