Unable to manage Datastore with custom role.

Issue/Introduction

Custom role assigned to an AD user is unable to perform certain activities on the Datastore like increase datastore, delete datastore , space reclamation on the datastore. Since the options were greyed out as below.

Custom role in vCenter has only all the privileges from the 'Datastore' segment.

Environment

vCenter 7.x

vCenter 8.x

Cause

Due to missing Storage partition configuration privilege.

Resolution

Need to be added to the following privilage to the custom role :

Complete Datastore privileges and, 

Host  >>  Configuration  >> Storage partition configuration privilage.

This role Allows VMFS datastore and diagnostic partition management.

With this role added, we can see that the options for increasing,space reclamation, deleting the datastore are active and operational as well.
