Issue/Introduction

  • Enhanced Datapath is a networking stack mode that provides superior network performance.
  • When an ESXi host is prepared with NSX, we could see "Enhance Datapath Capable" field being displayed as No.

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

This is expected behavior if the host PNIC or VMNIC does not support the "enhanced datapath" feature, the NSX UI will indicate that the host is not capable of enhanced datapath.

Resolution

Please see VMware Compatibility Guide to know which NICs  support enhanced data path or not.
On the VMware Compatibility Guide page, under the IO devices category, select ESXi version, IO device Type as Network, and feature as N-VDS Enhanced Datapath.

Refer to the Installation Guide if you want to configure enhanced datapath feature for the PNICs.
