Issue/Introduction

  • Enhanced Datapath is a networking stack mode that provides superior network performance.
  • When a ESXi host is prepared with NSX, we could see "Enhance Datapath Capable" field being displayed as No.

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

This is expected behavior, If the host PNIC or VMNIC is not supported with 'enhanced datapath' feature the NSX UI will display the host as not capable of enhanced datapath.

Resolution

Please see VMware Compatibility Guide to know NIC cards that support enhanced data path or not. On the VMware Compatibility Guide page, under the IO devices category, select ESXi version, IO device Type as Network, and feature as N-VDS Enhanced Datapath.

Refer https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-NSX-T-Data-Center/3.2/installation/GUID-F459E3E4-F5F2-4032-A723-07D4051EFF8D.html if you want to configure enhanced datapath feature for the PNICs.
