Issue/Introduction

• Creating MGMT cluster in VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid fails with error "edition not found"

# tanzu management-cluster create --ui --bind [Internal IP]:8080 --browser none -v 9

compatibility file (/home/tanzu/.config/tanzu/tkg/compatibility/tkg-compatibility.yaml) already exists, skipping download
BOM files inside /home/tanzu/.config/tanzu/tkg/bom already exists, skipping download
Error: edition not found

 

Environment

• VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKGm).

Cause

• This occur because Tanzu cli version is not compatible to the  VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid MGMT cluster version.

Resolution

•  Choose a compatible version of the Tanzu CLI. For a list of CLI versions that are compatible with this release of Tanzu Kubernetes Grid see Product Interoperability Matrix.
