Failed to validate system image error on upgrade from 6.7 to 7.3

Issue/Introduction

Trying to update image from SGOS 6.7 to 7.x and it fails with error: "Failed to validate system image Close this window and try again"

Environment

Attempting upgrade from 6.7.x to 7.x

Cause

Event log may contains the following message:

"Unable to install new system image: Deprecation warnings were found in Policy. These must be fixed prior to upgrade"  0 950000:96  log_exception.cpp:30

Also attempting to upgrade using CLI will result in the same error message:

Deprecation warnings were found in Policy. These must be fixed prior to upgrade

Resolution

Clean up deprecated CPL in policy before re-attempting upgrade.
