In MUX if the tasks on the timeline need to be scrolled to on the screen, the external dependency icon and actual external task do not show on the external project. Moving back to the original project, the icon, and external task are removed as well.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a project that has several tasks so on the timeline you need to scroll down the page to get to the tasks.
Make sure your external project is set up the same way so that the tasks you will associate need to be scrolled to.
Example projects are source = Project 1, target = Project 2
2. For ease:
Source Project 1 created tasks are
Project 1 Task 1
Project 1 Milestone 1
Project 1 Task 2
Project 1 Milestone 2
Target Project 2 created tasks are
Project 2 Task 1
Project 2 Milestone 1
Project 2 Task 2
Project 2 Milestone 2
3. On Source Project 1, using task = Project 1 Task 1, , create external dependency to target Project 2, task = Project 2 Task 2
4. Click Add to create the external dependency
5. Note that a new line is added to the timeline with the External Task and the Icon
6. Go to Project 2 timeline for the External Task
Expected Results: There will be an icon and line with the external dependency
Actual Results: No additional task or Predecessor or Successor in column, however you can still see the dependency in the task details.
Now go back to the original Project
The Dependency Icon as well as the whole external task are removed from the timeline.
The Successor and Predecessor in the columns are also removed, but they do show on the task flyout/dependencies.
Additional Issue for these tasks.
If you create two external dependencies while still on the same page, and then delete one, both external dependency lines get deleted though the flyout details remain on the original task

Every task can be seen in MSP or OWB, on the common grid or the Dependencies module at the Details Flyout
This seems to happen with large projects where the task affected has a WBS higher than 15 at the level of the task. Verify in PPM Gantt by moving the missing task to a higher position. If you are hitting this defect the task should be displayed in the timeline when moving higher.
