Unable to install Telegraf agent - "Agent Actions" is greyed out

Issue/Introduction

When browsing to the "Manage Telegraf Agents" page, (Environment >> Applications >> Manage Telegraf Agents)
After selecting a VM to install the Telegraf agent on, the "Agent Actions" button remains greyed out.

To confirm the issue matches this article:

  • Browse to Environment >> Inventory
  • Use the filter to search for the VM.
  • Check the Collection State and Collection Status of the VM.
  • If there is a "not existing" status being caused by a vCenter adapter please see the steps in the Resolution.

Aria Operations 8.16.1

Resolution

Only follow the steps below if all 3 of the following criteria are met:

  1. If there is a "not existing" status being caused by a vCenter adapter.
    AND
  2. You do not expect this vCenter to be currently monitoring this VM.
    AND
  3. You do not mind losing the historical metrics on the VM object.

If all 3 of the criteria above are met,

  1. Find the corresponding Virtual Machine object after browsing to Environment >> Inventory.
  2. Delete the VM object by selecting the VM and using the "Delete Object" button in the toolbar above.

    Note: This action will remove the historical data for this Virtual Machine object. The object will be rediscovered on the next collection cycle with the "not existing" status removed.

  3. After the Virtual Machine has been rediscovered, wait for a few collections cycles (approximately 15 minutes)
  4. Then browse to Environment >> Applications >> Manage Telegraf Agents
  5. Select the virtual machine again, the Agent Actions button should no longer be greyed out and you should now be able to install the agent.
