Issue/Introduction

Problem is seen when the steps are followed as below :

1. Create a host profile with the following settings:
ScratchConfig.ConfiguredScratchLocation = /vmfs/volumes/6409f1ee-4527ef10-c720-00620b33fb00/.locker-urumab16
Syslog.global.auditRecord.storageEnable = true
2. Apply to the host
3. Reboot the host

Environment

vSphere ESXi 8.0

Cause

scratch and Syslog.global.auditRecord.storageEnable setting causes a slowness issue on host when they are applied together via host profile and a reboot is taken. Cause is still being investigated by VMware Engineering.

Resolution

Enable the scratch location first and take a reboot. Reference article - https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.esxi.install.doc/GUID-6A4FCA6C-498C-4080-BFE8-AB9911A4B033.html

Once done, the setting Syslog.global.auditRecord.storageEnable can be set to true and take another reboot for it to take effect.
