Issue/Introduction

We have observed that the ICMP Probe is restarted every five minutes. It's happening across all the hubs. Even when the profile count in the ICMP probe is less than 40, it is restarting continuously.

Environment

  • DX UIM v23.4 CU1

Cause

  • ICMP resources (FQDN/host/device) were being removed and then readded due to the host/device belonginging to one group and then switching to another group as evidenced by the icmp.log entries, e.g., 'removeIcmpResources'

Resolution

  • As per the analysis of the icmp, hu-robot and controller logs TWO hosts/devices were causing the probe restart issues on the hub.
  • Restarts are expected in any case where a machine/device is added or removed from an OC Group.

Once those machines were properly decomissioned and not moving from one hub to another so often, the restarts will stop or would be much less frequent.
