Logical error in message DEF SAR07E

Upgraded  to View Release 14 and accessed a View 12.0 database with the View Release 14 load library 

Logon to View in EXP mode and receive message *** LOGICAL ERROR IN MESSAGE DEF SAR07E *** 

 

Cause

The error message is generated because the user logging onto View does not have their DISTID defined to the Deliver database that this View database is connected to .

The error message being selected should have read 'Distid not defined'  however this message was not defined in the View 12.0 database as the customer had not loaded the View Release 14 panels or versioned the View database to Release 14. 

Ordinarily this is not an issue , a View 12.0 can be accessed with a View 14 load library , in this case the View Release 14 software level included a new SUBMENU feature which introduces new messages on the View database and requires new panels to be loaded  

The View Release 14 software was trying to issue a  SAR07E message 'Distid not defined' however the message was not in the View Release 12.0 database for it to be generated 

Resolution

In this instance it is ok to load only  the SARP07  panel from the View Release 14 panel library to the View 12.0 database to avoid the error message 

The  SARP07 panel contains the additional messages that View Release 14 software level  is trying to generate in this situation
