Restore vApp properties if an Aria Operations or Aria Operations for Logs VM loses its networking properties

Issue/Introduction

When performing upgrades to Aria Operations or Aria Operations for Logs nodes, in some cases, the vApp options will not be populated and the VM will lose its networking properties causing the message:

"NO NETWORK DETECTED. PLEASE CHECK THE NETWORK CONFIGURATION."

Aria Operations for Logs 8.14.x
Aria Operations for Logs 8.16.x
Aria Operations for Logs 8.18.x

Cause

Incorrect vami configuration fails to populate the vApp options during the upgrade.

Resolution

 

1. Shutdown the impacted VMs and in vCenter, select the VM, and go to Configure > Settings > vApp Settings.

2. Select Edit and add the values as follows:

Under IP Allocation Tab:

a. Authoring, IP Protocol IPv4, IP Allocation Scheme, OVF Environment.

b. Under Deployment, IP Protocol IPv4, IP Allocation Static - Manual.

Under the OVF Details Tab:

a. OVF envoronment transport, select VMTools. Installation boot has no entry.

3. Please see the attached spreadsheet to populate the vApp settings.

Additional Information

Note: the vApp's VM name in vCenter must be the same as the VM name (vmname) in the vApp options.
