VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading past version 10.2.2 of VMware Cloud Director, attempts to connect to the environment with PowerCLI from Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 results in "No Cloud server was found".

  • PowerCLI is at the latest version.

  • You are on a Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system.

Environment

  • VMware Cloud Director 10.2.2

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Operating System.

Cause

  • VCD insists that client connections be secured.

  • Due to significant security vulnerabilities identified in SSL version 3 and TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1, these protocols have been removed from the default set of protocols offered by Windows Server 2012 R2 for client connections.

  • VMware have modified several ciphers used on the VCD Appliances, which may not be compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2 and earlier versions. Consequently, the server will be unable to establish a connection with VCD.

Resolution

/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/cell-management-tool ciphers -d
