Issue/Introduction

  • Tier-0 Gateway has HA VIP configured.
  • Tier-0 Gateway was created in a few minutes after the specified Edge Cluster was deleted.
  • Deleting Tier-0 Gateway HA VIP on UI throws following error:
Edge cluster <EDGE_CLUSTER_PATH> cannot be modified when used by interfaces [/infra/tier-0s/<T0_GATEWAY_ID>/locale-services/<LOCALE_SERVICE_ID>/interfaces/<INTERFACE_ID1>, /infra/tier-0s/<T0_GATEWAY_ID>/locale-services/<LOCALE_SERVICE_ID>/interfaces/<INTERFACE_ID1>] and services
  • Deleting Tier-0 Gateway itself and its Interfaces fails because HA VIP is in-use.

Environment

NSX-T Data Center 3.1.x

Cause

Creating Tier-0 Gateway with invalid edge cluster path is usually rejected.

In 3.1.x, edge cluster path is synchronized every 5 minutes so creating Tier-0 Gateway immediately after deleting Edge Cluster is unexpectedly accepted.

Resolution

Resolved in NSX Data Center 3.2.x.
