Getting PSOD on the ESXi while installing a ESXi host.

Issue/Introduction

This issue is seen where we have secure boot enabled on the ESXi host, and it gets to a Purple screen while booting from the image. The is a fresh install and the VIBs were giving the error of being not signed. 

Environment

We are using HPE Custom ISO for the fresh install for the 8.0.U3.  

Cause

This issue occurred because user did not add  microSD Flash Memory card on the HPE server. Make sure to check the following on the hardware when this PSOD occurs for the fresh install. 

1. TPM should be enabled and compatible with the firmware if secure boot is enabled

2. Bootloader should be up to date. 

3. The TPM module  should be inserted. 

 

Resolution

We added the microSD Flash Memory card on the iLO which was missing from the  hardware, We can verify the vibs signature by using a specific script.
