Issue/Introduction

We had to change the password of our Processing ID used for our windows servers and now the AP Autostart manager will not start up. How do we change the password used for AP?  I tried going into Automation Services Startup options and changing it there but when it brings up the confirmation box and I put the changed password in there I get an error saying "Password not confirmed". Is there someplace else that it is stored and has to be changed?

Environment

Automation Point 11.7 and higher.

Cause

Note that the password confirmation dialog is not controlled by Automation Point, but rather is a function of the Microsoft Foundation Class. The edit box in password mode automatically asks for confirmation when losing focus such as when you tab into another control or press the OK button. There is also size limit of 16 characters that cannot be changed. In this case, the password being used exceeded 16 characters in length, causing the password to fail confirmation.

Resolution

Ensure that the password chosen does not exceed 16 characters in length.
