vLCM Config Manager is enabled on this cluster. Applying Transport Node Profile is not allowed.

Issue/Introduction

The below error is faced while configuring NSX on ESXi hosts that are a part of vLCM cluster with config management enabled or applying a TNP to such a cluster:

"vLCM Config Manager is enabled on this cluster. Applying Transport Node Profile is not allowed."

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0
VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX

Cause

vLCM Config Manager functionality is not yet integrated with NSX, so applying TNP is not allowed.

Resolution

Workaround:

1. Create a new vLCM cluster  with only image management enabled but not config management
2. Move the hosts from the existing cluster to the newly created one.
3. Attach the TNP to the newly created cluster in NSX
