DSM Explorer : User Account Control (UAC) always displayed and Drag and Drop onto SD Package Source folder does not work

Issue/Introduction

When opening DSM Explorer, User Account Control (UAC) is displayed to confirm execution of DSM Explorer :

And Drag & Drop of files or folders onto the SD Package Source folder is not working.

UAC is enabled but User belongs to Local Administrators group. Why UAC dialog box is always displayed ?

Environment

Client Automation 14.5

Cause

dsmgui.exe has requestedExecutionLevel set to "highestAvailable"

With this settings :

• Local Administrator user could open DSM Explorer without UAC prompt and drag&drop is working fine.
• Users belonging to local Administrators group open DSM Explorer with UAC prompt and drag&drop does not work.
• Users not belonging to local Administrators group could open DSM Explorer without UAC prompt and drag&drop is working fine.

Resolution

Open a case at Broadcom Technical Support and ask for the fix T533393

This fix delivers the file dsmgui.exe with requestedExecutionLevel set to "asInvoker"

 

 

With this privilege all users could open DSM Explorer without UAC prompt and Drag&Drop of files/folders onto SD Package Source folder is working fine.
