How to enable Snapshot Properties in Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

The article purpose is to present steps to enable specific Snapshot properties in Aria Operations

Environment

Aria Operations 8.X

Cause

Certain snapshot related properties are Deactivated in policies by default. (E.g. Creator and Description)

Use the details in the Resolution below to enable these properties for collection in the relevant policy.

Resolution

Note:

Snapshots which are less than 24 hours old will NOT appear in Aria Operations.
This is due to the performance implications of having too many instance properties in Aria Operations and the fact that snapshots are intended to be short-lived as per Best practices for using VMware snapshots in the vSphere environment

 

To enable the required properties, in the Aria Operations UI browse to:

Configure >> Policies >> Select object type = "Virtual machine"  >> Properties >> Disk Space >> Snapshot 

Enable the desired property listed in this policy section by changing the State from Deactivated to Activated.

 

The example below illustrates the default state the Creator and Description properties:
