DX NetOps CA Performance Management - Usage and Administration CA Virtual Assurance for IM

Issue/Introduction

In the past, when CA eHealth was in the market, the SystemEDGE agent and AdvantageView was used for synthetic monitoring and URL configuration. What is the provision we have in current DX NetOps to perform the same operation?

Environment

DX NetOps 23.3 or later
SystemEDGE/Virtual Assurance for IM (VAIM) 6.3 or later

Resolution

The functionality of doing URL monitoring has not disappeared from SysEdge. It is all still there. Also, if there is a previous configuration file then parts of it can be used in the new SysEdge setup - it hasn't changed that much. However, it should be noted that the old SysEdge setup was 32-bit only and the new one is 64-bit - so don't go mixing any of the libraries or binaries otherwise it won't work.

SystemEDGE response Path tests can be discovered in CAPM, however, SystemEDGE has to be configured using config files or through Spectrum though since it can't be configured via CAPM.

Our TechDocs has a listing of the metrics covered in CAPM from SystemEDGE Response Path monitoring:

Also, to do SPM tests then you will need to make sure that the SysEdge agent has a Read-Write community string setup on it. The reason being is that it is required for the push of the configuration from Spectrum out to the agent itself. If RW is not available then you will not be able to setup tests nor update existing tests remotely (although, you can always edit them locally in the config files but that sort of thing is not really viable if you have to do this on more than a handful of agents).
