Issue/Introduction

  • Running a test failover or a failover fails at "Prepare cloud storage resources to run VMs" phase.
  • You will see a warning : Datastore 'ds01' failed to mount on the SDDC 'uuid of SDDC'.

  • This article is applicable only for SDDCs configured with ESA vSAN cluster. For all other nfs datastore mount failures refer KB338599

Environment

VMware Live Cyber recovery 7.27.x

Cause

VMware Live Cyber Recovery stores all the protected Virtual machines snapshots in a Cloud Filesystem. During a failover or a test failover, the Orchestrator mounts the Cloud Filesystem as NFS datastore (ds01) in a specified recovery SDDC.

The failure to mount the NFS datastore is due to ESA vSAN cluster configured in recovery SDDC.

Resolution

Currently, mounting a NFS datastore to a vSAN ESA cluster in VMConAWS SDDC is not supported.

For a successfull test failover or faiover, please deploy a new SDDC with only vSAN OSA Cluster and attach it as a recovery SDDC.

Note: You can validate the cluster type from VMware Cloud Console > SDDC info.
