Issue/Introduction

Problem: 

- Unable to start Demo Server successfully. It appears like the LISA Bank Application has been started but failed while getting deployed. 

- Tried starting it from console using ‘start’ command to be able to see any errors when it fails. The console shown errors as below:

INFO  lisabank Marking servlet action as unavailable

ERROR lisabank Servlet /lisabank threw load() exception javax.servlet.UnavailableException: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd

- The server.log from DemoServer_Home\lisa-demo-server\jboss\client has shown the errors below:

ERROR [org.apache.struts.action.ActionServlet] The /WEB-INF/web.xml was not found. 

java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd

Environment:  

- DevTest 8.3.0 

 

Cause: 

- Product Defect

 

Resolution/Workaround: 

This has been identified as a product defect. The defect ID is RTC-225136 for your reference. Please raise a support ticket with CA Support to acquire a patch available for this defect and provide the defect ID in it. 

Once the patch has been acquired, follow the steps below to apply the patch:

1.Rename the downloaded file to itko-example-dev-server-8.3.0.ear [Only if it has been given other extensions like .rename/.txt to avoid from being filtered due to spam]

2.Stop Demo Server if it is running. 

3.Create a back up itko-example-dev-server-Y.Y.Y.ear(if Devtest 8.3 then Y.Y.Y is 8.3.0) from the folder %LISA_HOME%\DemoServer\lisa-demo-server\jboss\server\default\deploy. 

4.Copy the file which is created in 1 to the folder %LISA_HOME%\DemoServer\lisa-demo-server\jboss\server\default\deploy (You can over write it) 

5.Start DemoServer

 

Additional Information: 

DevTest do not have any logs specific to Demo Server. Hence, to verify any errors/exceptions pertaining to Demo server start up, you may verify the boot.log and server.log located under DemoServer_Home\lisa-demo-server\jboss\client
