Issue/Introduction

Application initiated emails such as delivery of one time passwords, or outlook-initiated polls, are delayed or malformed, when sent through a cloud email detector.

Cause

Misconfigured send connector within O365.
Sending non-user mail, such as one time passwords, polls, conference room reservation, and other application-centric mail through a cloud detection server is not recommended.

Resolution

It is best practice to only send user mail through the Office 365 CDS.

Additional Information

When Microsoft Exchange encodes certain proprietary features into SMTP mail for delivery over the Internet, some functionality may be lost. Routing such content directly to the recipient's Exchange server will preserve the original functionality.
