Issue/Introduction

The agent installed on the WebSphere Liberty app is not writing either log (autoprobe or agent.log) to the directory specified in the agent profile.  We do know the agent loads the agent profile however, because it is reporting to the EM specified.  When the agent starts up we can see that it reports metrics, but there is no evidence of an IntroscopeAgent.log or AutoProbe.log.  It is only the WebSphere Liberty app servers that we are seeing this issue.

Environment

z/OS with APM 10.8 Agents

Resolution

The APM installation folder had wrong permissions and partition mounting configuration for Agent extensions, hotdeploy, and logs folders.  Once these were fixed on the z/OS side, the Agent was able to write to the logs.
