Issue/Introduction

  • When a user attempts to execute the command "oc get co storage" to retrieve information about the OpenShift Container Storage (OCS) cluster operator in the OpenShift environment, they receive the following error message.

"VSphereProblemDetectorControllerAvailable: StorageClass <storage_class_name>: datastore <datastore_name> is part of <datastore_cluster_name> datastore cluster;"

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) version prior to 4.14

Cause

  • An individual datastore that is part of a VMware vSphere datastore cluster is supported as of OpenShift 4.14 and newer releases.

NOTE: The user will need a RedHat subscription to access the full RedHat knowledge base article mentioned above.

Resolution

  • There is no resolution in the OpenShift version prior to 4.14. The user can use the individual datastores that are not part of the datastore cluster.

  • An individual datastore that is part of a VMware vSphere datastore cluster is supported as of OpenShift 4.14.
