Issue/Introduction

Issue:

After applying cumulative 1 patches for 12.9 unable to convert Primary server to Background server. While running pdm_configure getting message “The database you are trying to use was previously configured with Primary server. The database may still be in use. Are you sure you want to continue? Choose OK to allow this Background Server to use the selected database. After selecting OK, the popup goes away, but nothing happens in the pdm_configure screen.

Resolution:

Please follow the optional step # 38 from post install steps of cumulative 1 patches:

38. (OPTIONAL STEP) For Problem: PDM_CONFIGURE FAILS ON COPYING MDB FROM

 ANOTHER ENVIRONMENT

( Prob# USRD 2872 )

 a. This correction introduces a new optional NX variable, @NX_SWING_BOX_MIGRATE. If this variable is set to 'Yes', it will ignore the active servers check.

If it is set to 'No' , it will not ignore the active servers check.

 b. This option can be installed by running the following command from the Console on the Primary server machine:

       " pdm_options_mgr -c -s SWING_BOX_MIGRATE -v Yes -a pdm_option.inst "

 c.  We need to set the value of NX_SWING_BOX_MIGRATE to 'No' after pdm_configure is successfully completed using the following command.

       "pdm_options_mgr -c -s SWING_BOX_MIGRATE -v No -a pdm_option.inst "

d.  To avoid losing the change when you run pdm_configure, please run the above command with the '-t' flag as follows:

      "pdm_options_mgr -c -s SWING_BOX_MIGRATE -v No -a  pdm_option.inst -t"

 Note:

For each secondary Service Desk server you have configured, please manually add or update the NX variable above in each secondary Service Desk server machine within its NX.env file located under $NX_ROOT directory.

A Service Desk product recycle is normally needed for the new NX variable to take effect.

After which we should be able to convert Primary server to Background server without seeing the above mentioned error.
