Issue/Introduction

  • This KB article documents the issue encountered under  software issue # 122717.
  • Symptoms:

This issue has several symptoms. The following list summarizes what has been observed in the field:

    • The Standby Edge WAN link doesn't form tunnel to gateways and  peers. ( can be observed in Remote diagnostics output for checking the path to gateways from Standby WAN link)
    • Standby Edge WAN links becomes Disconnected ( can be observed in VCO monitor overview section)
    • Standby WAN link physical status will be UP but there won't be any tunnels to VCG or peers. ( can be verified in Remote diagnostics)

Environment

VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud Edge Version - R5230-20240313-GA

Cause

  1. For a customer enterprise site deployed with an Enhanced High Availability topology where Edge model 540's are used, if a hard reset is performed on the Standby Edge
  2. Edge model 540's already running version 5.2.3.0 and after tunnel flap (example- certificate renewal etc.)  the standby WAN links will not form tunnels

Resolution

A fix for issue # 122717 included in the following Edge builds:

  • 5.2.3.2 (R5232-20240516-GA or later)
