New ADLDS Policy Store fails to initialize with Asser failed error

Issue/Introduction

After installing a new Policy Server and trying to configure an ADLDS instance it fails to load the data definitions.

Errors are Create failed, Object not unique and Assert failed.

Cause

In attempting to get the Policy Store configured, the setup steps were re-run multiple times. This meant that the XPSDDInstall SmMaster.xdd was attempted several times.

This is why the "No Unique" error is seen, and then the Assert failed. The process is expecting the Policy Store to be completely empty, in this case there were some entries, but not all.

Resolution

Deleting all entries in the Policy Store and re-running the XPSDDInstall SmMaster.xdd import was now successful as the ADLDS instance was empty now.
