Error " Internal Server Error - Can't determine IMC guest type for unknown OS family: Other" when powering on a VM in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

• You are not able to power on a VM in VMware Cloud Director and you receive the error below:
  
  Internal Server Error - Can't determine IMC guest type for unknown OS family: Other


• The VM guest operating systems can be either macOS or FreeBSD.
• Guest Customization is enabled on the affected VM.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.4.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

Cause

Guest customization of Mac OS and FreeBSD is not supported.

 

Resolution

Disable guest customization for Mac and FreeBSD OS VMs and then power on the VM or capture a new VM template with guest customization disabled.
