Issue/Introduction

  • A general system error occurred: VDS host error: see fault Cause Cannot create DVPort # of VDS ## on the host #.#.#.#
  • ESXi hostd.log reports error's similar to below

  • The below error is seen in the recent task in vCenter

Environment

vSphere ESXi

Cause

Directory creation failures due to NFS3ERR_ACCES (NFSv3 Error 13), indicating permission denied by the NFS server,Prevents creation of DVPorts within the specified Virtual Distributed Switch (VDS), impacting network configurations and operations.

Resolution

The issue originates from permission restrictions on the NFS server, hindering directory creation essential for DVPort operations within the VMware infrastructure. Resolving NFS server permissions in alignment with NFSv3 specifications is crucial to restore normal system operations.
