Issue/Introduction

With CentOS 7 going end of life, what supported OS versions can the EDR server be migrated into going forward?

Environment

  • Carbon Black EDR Server: All Versions
  • CentOS7

Resolution

The suggestion is to move to a supported RHEL version, or move to Alma or Rocky flavors that are built off of RHEL. Amazon Linux will also be evaluated for future support. Please see the Server Operating Environment Requirements (OER) guide for the current RHEL based versions supported.

CentOS stream versions will not be supported, this is due to it being an upstream version of RHEL that could introduce stability issues and not be predicable.

Customers also have the option to move to the containerized version of the product, this houses the EDR application installed on Photon OS which creates independence of OS environmental variables.

Additional Information

  • Many of the OS's provide documentation on how to migrate directly from CentOS 7.
