VMware Aria Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

Creating a local user from the Aria Operations for Networks UI, you may face Invalid character. Please use only letters (a-z, A-Z), numbers(0-9), underscore (_), periods (.), and periods (.) and dashes (-). error and fail.

The conditions for creating a local user are as follows.

  • Email (Login ID) contains “@”.
  • The part of domain name after the last dot has 4 or more characters..

Environment

Aria Operations for Networks 6.10.X
Aria Operations for Networks 6.11.X
Aria Operations for Networks 6.12.X

Cause

Aria Operations for Networks 6.10 or later has a limitation that top level domains such as “.com” and “.org” can only accept a maximum of 3 characters.
Therefore, if you try to configure a local user with a top level domain that exceeds the limit, such as “.local”, it will be recognized as an invalid character and configuration will fail.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Aria Operations for Networks 6.13.0.
Currently, there is no workaround.
