Issue/Introduction

Why the Projected Cost For Month column is null or has no value in the EC2/RDS assets report? 

Cause

The 'Projected Cost for Month' is calculated and here is the formula:

Projected Cost for Month = Total_MTD_cost + (Remaining_Hours_in_Month * (Total_MTD_Cost / Total_MTD_Hours)) 

Hence, the 'Projected Cost for Month' is zero whenever the 'Total_MTD_cost' is zero. 

Resolution

The reason the Total_MTD_cost is zero is often because the instance was launched recently and it has not incurred any costs. This can be validated by verifying the 'Launch Date' column in the assets report.
