On one machine, want to install a 5 tomcat instances running all at the same time And with the same group of jar apps (microservices) at the same time.
Questions:
How many agents are needed to install to monitor all these instances?
Have one agent for each instance.
Don't forget the agent naming aspect
Java Agent Naming
If you run multiple instances of the same application, DX Application Performance Management attempts to resolve identical agent names, including custom metric agents. DX Application Performance Management appends the agent name with a character and a random number. We recommend, however, that you tell DX Application Performance Management how to resolve the naming.
Note : We have a UMA agent that monitors microservices .
Starting from DX APM release 24.6.2, a new Microservices agent (eBPF) is created which is capable of dynamically instrument applications and system calls, capturing detailed metrics that helps with real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting. For more information, see UMA Microservices (eBPF) Agent.
