WA_AGENT Service Automatically Stops After Start

Issue/Introduction

Within 30-60 seconds of starting the WA_AGENT service, it stops. 

Environment

CA Workload Automation System Agent: v12.1 sp1

Operating System: Windows

Cause

The runner_os_component.log shows:

• 6/29/2024 20:57:51:875-400: Problem reading from pipe: The pipe has ended; exiting

The cybAgent_service.log:

• 6/29/2024 20:57:51:953 JVM finished with ExitCode: 1
• 6/29/2024 20:57 Shutdown sequence complete

 

Several security tools (Windows Defender, Crowdstrike and Guardicore) were on the system in question. Disabling the service for one of the security tools allowed the WA_AGENT service to continue running. 

Resolution

Work with your SysAdmin/Security team(s) to isolate which tool is causing the problem and remedy the problem.
