Title: Alarm for Very High Load Balancer CPU Usage

Event ID: load_balancer.lb_cpu_very_high

 

Alarm Description:

• Purpose: To inform users that the CPU usage of load balancer service is high.
• Impact: Some traffic cannot be handled timely and the performance is not good.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Datacenter
VMware NSX

Cause

There may be too much traffic for this load balancer and it costs too much CPU.

Resolution

Steps to resolve
For 3.0.0 and higher

Recommendation Action:

1. If the load balancer CPU utilization is higher than the system usage threshold, the workload is too high for this load balancer. Rescale the load balancer service by changing the load balancer size from small to medium or from medium to large.
2. If the CPU utilization of this load balancer is still high, consider adjusting the Edge appliance form factor size or moving load balancer services to other Edge nodes for the applicable workload.
