Issue/Introduction
VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager inventory sync of VMware Aria Operations for Logs fails with following Error Codes:
Error Code "LCMVRLICONFIG40004"
invalid host name provided for VMware Aria Operations for logs
VMware Aria Operations for logs hostname is null or empty
DNS resolution for Aria Operations for Logs primary and worker nodes was successful
SSH access to the Aria Operations for Logs nodes revealed a hostname set to "localhost"
Environment
VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.x
Cause
A hostname of "localhost" only resolves within the local machine and is not suitable for external communication. During the inventory sync process, Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (LCM) expects a valid FQDN for proper identification and communication with the Aria Operations for Logs nodes. The mismatch between the expected FQDN and the actual "localhost" hostname led to the inventory sync failure
Resolution
Follow the below procedure to resolve the issue
1.Set the Correct Hostname:
Run the command hostnamectl set-hostname <FQDN> on each Aria Operations for Logs node, replacing <FQDN> with the actual FQDN of the system
2.Re-trigger Inventory Sync:
After setting the correct hostname on all nodes, click on Retry. Enter the FQDN of the Aria Operations for Logs node and click OK to complete the inventory sync process
Additional Information
Impact/Risks:
If not resolved, the inventory sync will continue to fail
