Unknown services on GM nodes post node replacement in the cluster.

Issue/Introduction

 

• NSX-T Federation 3.x
• Post redeployment of one GM node in the cluster, a few services (CONTROLLER, POLICY and IDPS_REPORTING) on the non-redeployed nodes show UNKNOWN.

• On the redeployed node, the service GLOBAL_MANAGER shows UNKNOWN
  • 
• From NSX-T Manager logs on the redeployed node, node_config.json, the property service_name is set to manager. 
  • node_config.json:        "service_name": "manager" 

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x

Cause

The newly deployed node was configured incorrectly with the role "manager".

Resolution

The resolution is to redeploy the node with the correct role, "global manager".
