NSX is unable to find or display backups after upgrading SFTP server version

Issue/Introduction

Previously, you SFTP server worked without issue but after upgrading the SFTP server, NSX begins to have issues with it. Or, you are using an FTP server that expects RFC compliant client requests from your NSX environment and the server closes the connection with the following error message or something similar:

“ssh protocol error. invalid client protocol identification”

 

Environment

NSX-T 3.x, NSX 4.x

Cause

Please use the supported list of FTP server OS solutions.

Additional Information

Workaround: You may be able to configure your FTP server to accept non-RFC compliant connections.
