Link down events on the active edge (HA pair) will not be displayed in VCO events in edge versions lesser than 5.2.x

Issue/Introduction

Active WAN interface down events will not be populated in VCO events.

On version 4.5.1:

Scenario:

1. When the link is removed on the active edge, the standby edge will take the active role with the reason being "peer WAN interface down."

Behavior:

• When the link is removed on the active edge, the standby edge will take over the active role with the reason being "peer WAN interface down."
• No events will be seen on VCO. This is expected behavior.

On version 5.2.X:

Active Edge:1a9e

Standby Edge:906b

Scenario:

• The GE6 link is removed from the active edge (serial number ending in 1a9e).
• The standby edge (serial number ending in 906b) takes over the active role.
• The edge with the serial number ending in 1a9e is now the standby.

Behavior:

An event indicating the change is populated as "Standby edge interface GE6 is down, serial number ...1a92," which is different from the behavior in versions earlier than 5.2.X.

 

Environment

All vmware Velocloud SD-WAN edge version lesser 5.2.X

Resolution

The Edge software version must be upgraded to 5.2.X or later.
