Issue/Introduction

  • Deleting the Organization VDC doesn't complete successfully.
  • The Organization VDC is added to the Stranded Items list.
  • Error details from the VCD UI shows:

com.vmware.vcloud.fabric.compute.ValidationException: ValidationException DELETE_VRP_CONTAINING_VMS
 at com.vmware.vcloud.fabric.compute.vrp.GenericVirtualResourcePool.delete(GenericVirtualResourcePool.java:1776)
 at com.vmware.vcloud.fabric.compute.vrp.VirtualResourcePoolFactoryImpl.delete(VirtualResourcePoolFactoryImpl.java:334)
 at jdk.internal.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor66819.invoke(Unknown Source)
 at java.base/jdk.internal.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43)

  • All the objects within the Organization VDC were removed from the UI before deleting it.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director

Cause

In vCenter or Cloud Director database there are reference to VMs which are part of the Organization VDC-to-be-removed.

Please note that these VMs are only to be removed if they are not supposed to be present in that Organization VDC resource pool(Example: when they were already migrated, when they were already deleted from VCD UI etc.).

Resolution

If the VMs are visible under the Organization VDC resource pool in VC, remove them and then try the delete from the UI again.

If the resource pool in VC is empty, please open a support request with Broadcom VCF VCD support siting this article number(371965).
