How to fully disable RAC feature in Client Automation ?

Environment

Client Automation - All Versions.

Resolution

You could fully disable the RAC functionality by changing this setting in Configuration Policy applied on Domain Manager :

DSM/Software Delivery/Manager/RAC: Automation setting = FALSE

"The following parameter is used to determine the behavior of a Domain Manager when it receives a report from an Agent that it has had a new OS-installation. If set to False, RAC is completely disabled and any old installation records will be kept intact. If set to True, the RAC parameter Automation setting sets the behavior of RAC."

With this setting when a machine is reinstalled, the SD job history of the machine is not deleted and no RAC job is created.
The problem is that the packages configured in software policies are not sent again as they are still present in SD Package installation list of the machine.

 

 

Another solution if to let DSM/Software Delivery/Manager/RAC: Automation setting = TRUE

and set "Disabled - do not automate RAC" under "Control Panel/Configuration/Software Job Management/Re-install After Crash"

 

With this setting when a machine is reinstalled, the SD job history of the machine is deleted but no RAC job is automatically created.
