Issue/Introduction

  • When adding available IPs to the IP Allocation on edge gateway you receive an error as the one below:
Error: [ xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx ] Sub allocated IP pool specified for edge gateway "EXTERNAL_NETWORK_NAME" is invalid. Ranges in the pool should belong to external network IP pool. Sub allocated IP Ranges ##.##.##.## -##.##.##.##. External network IP pool [##.##.##.## - ##.##.##.##].

  • On the external network in Cloud Director the Gateway CIDR is 198.51.100.2/30

  • The Org Edge Gateway has been assigned the IP 198.51.100.2 that is outside the expected range

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

Cause

The Org Edge Gateway has an invalid IP assigned outside the expected range.

Resolution

Recreating the network definition for the external network to push the correct configuration to the Org Edge gateway.

Additional Information

The network definition for this network would be 198.51.100.0/30 where:

198.51.100.0 is the network definition
198.51.100.3 is a broadcast IP
198.51.100.2 Edge gateway

This means only 1 IP should be available : 198.51.100.1
