Issue/Introduction

Customer may have questions about the different kinds of time indicated in edge overall information.

Environment

All supported VMware by Broadcom SD-WAN Edge versions

Resolution

  1. Activated indicates the time when the SD-WAN Edge first successfully activated on SD-WAN Orchestrator. If the SD-WAN Edge is re-activated on a SD-WAN Orchestrator, the value does not change.
  2. Last Contact indicates the time of last successful heartbeat received by SD-WAN Orchestrator.
  3. System up Since indicates the time when the SD-WAN Edge was rebooted or power cycled. It is the uptime of OpenWrt OS.
  4. Service Up Since indicates the time when SD-WAN Edge's main process edged started. It is also the output of debug.py --uptime command.

Additional Information

System up Since and Service Up Since may be different when edged restarted but OpenWrt OS did not restart. For exmaple, HA Active/Active split brain/HA switchover or edged restarted due to OOM or system defect. If a SD-WAN Edge rebooted or power cycled, System up Since and Service Up Since must be same time after SD-WAN Edge back online. Those values can help us narrow down the issue.
