Microsoft SCOM Management pack not collecting Microsoft SQLServer Windows Database objects

Issue/Introduction

MS SCOM MP is unable to collecting any MS SQL DBs.

The MS SCOM MP is missing the Microsoft.SQLServer.Windows.Database properties under Resource Kinds in the scom.properties file.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.16.0

MS SCOM MP 9.0.0

Resolution

WORKAROUND:

• SSH to the adapter instance collector with root
• Change directory using the command below:
  
  cd /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/inbound/msscom_adapter3/conf
  
  
•  Edit the file scom.properties using Vi (See Editing files on an ESXi host using vi)
  • Add the following resources kind at the end of file  (as per screenshot)
    
    Microsoft.SQLServer.Windows.Database



 

• Make sure that the adapter instance is collecting from the same collector where the changes were made (Note: This procedure will need to be performed on each collector which hosts the MS SCOM adapter)
  
  • Data Sources > Integrations > Adapter instance

• Wait for 15 to 20 minutes and the DBs will be mapped.
• Wait for 30 minutes to 1 hour and the metrics started to show up.
