Issue/Introduction
To change the client communication port (default: 41002) used between the Agents and Server.
Environment
App Control Agent: All Supported Versions
App Control Server: All Supported Versions
Resolution
Determine the new communication port (ex: 91002) and verify the new port is available between endpoints and application server.
Log in to the application server hosting the Console as the Carbon Black Service Account.
If an Agent is installed on the application server it is recommended to temporarily:
Disable Tamper Protection.
Move the Agent to Local Approval.
For other security software on the system, make sure
Server Exclusions
are in place.
Uninstall the App Control Server software.
Begin reinstallation of the App Control Server software
App Control Tech Docs
> Server > Server Installation Guide > Installing with a Reconnected Database
During reinstall, at the
Server Configuration Options
prompt, specify the new port (ex: 91002).
Existing Agents will need to be
updated using setserver
to use the new communication port.
These steps can be scripted to update the Agents in bulk.
Additional Information
Specifying the Agent Communication Port is only possible during installation of the Server software.
Until the
setserver command
is issued, or Agents are reinstalled, they will continue to try and use the previous port.
