VMware SDDC Manager

Issue/Introduction

Every 5 minutes, SSH session is opened and closed by vcf service user

Even if you enable SSH on such a host, the service gets disabled automatically on the consecutive session activity by vcf svc user

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 4.4

Cause

This issue occurs because the svc vcf user creates and deletes SSH session every 5 minutes to run command "vdq -q" to query the state of the disks and their eligibility for vSAN.

This behavior is seen for all hosts in "Unassigned" state on SDDC Manager

Resolution

This is expected behavior if the affected host is in "Unassigned" state in SDDC Manager

In order to address it,

  • Assign the host to any workload domain/cluster, OR
  • Decommission the host from the SDDC Manager if it is not to be used
