[vLCR] Converting VMs using High Frequncy snapshot to use Standard Snapshots

Issue/Introduction

The Protection groups are currently configured to use High Frequency Snapshots (LWD based) and when you try to convert the same Protection Groups to use Standard frequency snapshots, the subsequent snapshots tasks will still result in a high frequency snapshots for the VMs in the Protection Group. 

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery v7.27 and above 

 

Cause

Converting the snapshot from high-frequency to standard frequency is not supported in the vLCR UI and cannot be done dynamically. To retain the LWD incremental snapshot and convert them to Standard Frequency snapshot requires manual intervention in the backend as the configuration is stored within the VM folder in the Cloud Filesystem (SCFS). 

Note: Deleting the Protection Group will delete all associated snapshots for the VMs in it. 

Resolution

Please open a Support request with VMware by Broadcom and provide the following details:

1) Organization ID of your deployment. 

2) List of Protection Groups that needs to be converted. 

3) List of VMs in the Protection Group that needs to be converted.
