Issue/Introduction

Base knowledge to troubleshoot VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge offline or monitor

Environment

VMware SD-WAN
VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN Edge
VMware SD-WAN Orchestrator 

Resolution

VCE heartbeats with VCO every 30 seconds 

VCE goes offline in VCO after 4 missing heartbeats 

VCE uploads stats every 5 minutes 

If VCE fails to reach the VCO through the tunnel, after 10 tries it will switch the management traffic direct with the default policy(hidden in the system).  

 - After heartbeats fail, it will switch to the direct/gateway network path.

 - If heartbeats are successful after switching to the direct/underlay path, it will stay that way for 30 minutes and then will switch back to sending heartbeats via the VCMP tunnel to the primary gateway(hosted mode).

 - If it continues to fail via either path then it will keep alternating back and forth between sending heartbeats via direct or primary gateway until heartbeats are successful. 

For Handoff enabled on gateway(PG).

- if an exact route matches the VCO IP address, the user policy could be instead of the default policy (hidden in the system).

Additional Information

This default value could be changed

Orchestrator---> Administration--->Operator Profiles

Click an Operator profile,  Check the default value under " Management Settings" or Change.
